Elaine Spector

Patent attorney Elaine Spector has over two decades of experience in IP law, with her current practice focused mainly on prosecuting patent applications for electromechanical innovations. During her years of private practice, she has handled various IP matters including drafting and prosecuting patents and trademarks, as well as litigating complex patent cases in federal courts. Before joining Harrity & Harrity, Spector worked in-house at Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures, where she managed over 500 matters in medical and software related technologies. Spector is dedicated to improving diversity in patent law through numerous diversity leadership roles, including as vice chair of the Intellectual Property Owners Association’s (IPO) diversity committee, and as chair of the association’s D&I Committee Outreach Subcommittee. She serves as co-chair of Harrity & Harrity’s diversity committee and hosts Driving Diversity, a weekly vlog sharing diversity-related tips and FAQs, as well as quarterly webinars in a series called Diversity Dialogue as part of Harrity’s Diversity Channel. Spector is a board member at Change the Conversation (formerly No More Stolen Childhoods), a non-profit organisation that engages communities in the prevention of and healing from child sexual abuse. She is frequently involved in ADAPT (Advancing Diversity Across Patent Teams) initiatives.
