With more than 30 years’ experience, Virginia Cervieri leads the IP practice at Cervieri Monsuárez.
Her expertise spans trademarks, patents and industrial designs, copyright, domain names, plant varieties, geographical indications and denominations of origin, as well as regulatory product registrations.
Through her leadership in IP enforcement, institutional advocacy and cultural initiatives, Cervieri has established herself as a leading figure in Latin American IP practice, with a strong focus on anti-counterfeiting strategy, sustainability and cross-border collaboration.
Her practice also extends to personal and image rights, sports law, data protection, audiovisual rights, and regulatory matters in the pharmaceutical and health sciences sectors, as well as digital monitoring and online brand protection.
Cervieri plays a central role in the fight against illicit trade. She serves as president of the Chamber to Fight Piracy and Smuggling and leads the sustainability platform Be Green, Take Action, which integrates circular economy initiatives including Entre Manos, Score Green and Re Vida.
These programmes transform waste and confiscated counterfeit materials into socially valuable products, combining IP enforcement with environmental responsibility and the economic empowerment of women artisans.
Her international engagement is equally extensive. She is an active member of the Anti-Counterfeiting and Parallel Trade Committee, the Marques Subcommittee on Sustainable Destruction, the International Trademark Association (INTA) Unreal Campaign Committee, and the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition (IACC) Latin America Working Group.
In 2024, together with Pablo Monsuárez, Cervieri founded the Fundación Cervieri Monsuárez in José Ignacio, Uruguay, dedicated to the exhibition and dissemination of Latin American contemporary art.
The foundation aims to strengthen Uruguay’s visual arts ecosystem and foster international dialogue and collaboration through curatorial and educational initiatives.
