Liz Cohen

Liz Cohen is an experienced specialist focusing on patent litigation in the life sciences sector. 

She advises pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies on complex patent strategy and litigation at both UK and international level, including proceedings before the English courts and cross-border disputes across Europe.

Cohen’s work spans disputes involving pharmaceuticals, biosimilars, inhaler technology, and medical devices, as well as strategic advice on jurisdiction and procedure, including matters relating to the Unified Patent Court (UPC). 

She is a qualified solicitor advocate, giving her full rights of audience in civil courts, and has held a senior leadership role at Bristows as joint managing partner. 

Cohen has more than 25 years of experience in the field and also contributes to legal education as a tutor and examiner on postgraduate IP law programmes at the University of Oxford.

Her influence stems from her combining top-tier leadership at one of the UK’s leading IP firms with a long track record in landmark life sciences patent disputes that shape litigation strategy across Europe.
