Bristows’ head of competition named as deputy High Court judge
Pat Treacy, head of the competition and regulatory practice at London-headquartered Bristows, will be taking up the role of a deputy High Court judge in the Chancery Division of the English High Court.
Treacy has been a partner at Bristows for more than 20 years, and she was the firm’s second female managing partner, from 2004 to 2011. She is also the first woman to serve as senior partner at Bristows, a position to which she was recently appointed.
Her legal practice focuses on EU and competition law. With expertise in industries such as technology and the life sciences, she advises clients on the interface between competition law and IP rights in innovative fields.
Liz Cohen, joint managing partner of Bristows, said: “Pat is a highly regarded and brilliant practitioner who, throughout her career, has built strong relationships and earned the respect of her colleagues, clients and peers.
“The role of deputy High Court judge seems a natural evolution of Pat’s already distinguished career and we couldn’t be more proud of her as she takes up her new position on the bench,” Cohen added.
Treacy is one of only three female solicitors who has been appointed to the role. She will start her two-year term in November.
