Sally Britton leads the Brands group at Mishcon de Reya, specialising in brand protection strategy, trademark clearance, monitoring, enforcement, and the filing of trademarks and designs. 

Britton advises brand owners across the full lifecycle of a brand, from creation and launch through to expansion, investment, and exit.

She also serves as co-head of Mishcon de Reya’s Retail group, where she plays a leading role in the firm’s patronage of the British Fashion Council and supports Walpole’s Brands of Tomorrow programme. 

She is active in international IP and design communities, including Marques’ Design Team and the International Trademark Association (INTA) Design Committee.

She moderated a panel at INTA’s Annual Meeting in London in May 2026, which focused on recent developments in design law and their implications.

Britton is the editor of Brand Matters, Mishcon de Reya’s quarterly publication for brand owners and creators, and is regularly sought by the press and broadcast media for commentary on brand protection developments.

She is influential because she combines senior leadership of a major IP brands practice with significant industry engagement in fashion and retail IP, and a rare blend of legal and commercial brand management experience.

Before qualifying as a lawyer, Britton worked in brand management for multinational companies, gaining experience in product development, advertising, promotion, PR, packaging, and sponsorship. 

This commercial background informs her legal practice and her strategic approach to brand protection.
