We are pleased to introduce the inaugural WIPR Rankings: UK Patents 2025, marking a significant expansion of WIPR's commitment to providing best-in-class law firm rankings for the global IP legal profession.
This new ranking aims to be a valuable, informative, and accurate resource for potential clients seeking patent expertise in the UK market.
For the first time, these rankings offer an objective assessment of firms' expertise, reputation, and services across the diverse landscape of UK patent law. The structure is designed with a comprehensive three-pronged approach, covering:
- Non-contentious matters, which include patent prosecution (drafting, filing, and managing patent applications) and transactional IP work (advising on licensing, joint ventures, and due diligence related to patent assets).
- Contentious matters, focusing on patent litigation across various UK courts, tribunals, and the Unified Patent Court (UPC).
This detailed approach, based on extensive research, firm submissions, interviews, and market feedback, aims to highlight specific sector strengths and provide clarity for businesses and individuals making informed decisions about patent counsel.
