GlobalBlock adds world's two largest country domains—centralised brand protection in more than 750 web extensions
Addition of China's .cn and Germany's .de marks major milestone in simplifying global IP protection, says Tony Kirsch of the Brand Safety Alliance.
When the Brand Safety Alliance (BSA) launched GlobalBlock in March 2024, it was a bold move underpinned by a simple vision: to develop solutions that help brands proactively protect their assets online, rather than playing constant catch-up in a complex, expanding market.
GlobalBlock was designed to achieve this in a safe and reliable way, without spending millions on defensive domain registrations or drowning in monitoring and litigation costs.
Shortly after celebrating its second birthday, that vision has just taken its biggest leap forward.
The BSA has just announced the addition of China's .cn and Germany's .de ccTLDs to its market leading domain name blocking service, GlobalBlock. The two largest country code domains in the world, .cn and .de, together represent more than 30 million registered domains powering some of the most active digital markets on the planet.
For brand owners, this means instant protection in these critical namespaces and an unprecedented commitment to reducing IP abuse.
The internet is global, but its policies and processes aren't—which makes brand protection extremely difficult in a world with hundreds of domain extensions.
Every day, the team at the BSA speaks with brands who face challenges reconciling the need to protect their IP assets with budget and resource restrictions.
As the world’s first solution that is designed to assist brand protection efforts before the crisis hits, GlobalBlock is driving a new standard for brand owners that no longer believe that the solutions of the past will meet their needs in a new AI driven threat world.
The addition of .cn and .de is a major milestone for the already popular service, bringing GlobalBlock's total coverage to 780 extensions, including hundreds of generic extensions such as .biz, .info, .shop and country domains from Indonesia to Bangladesh to Costa Rica.
But the significance goes beyond numbers. These additions represent something brand management professionals have long sought: standardised protection in a fragmented landscape.
Why .cn and .de matter
China and Germany represent two of the world's largest economies and some of the most actively used extensions globally. Until now, protecting a trademark in these domains required separate registrations with often complex processes, local proxy representation, and ongoing renewal charges.
With GlobalBlock, a single purchase now covers both .cn and .de alongside hundreds of other extensions—with protection automatically expanding as new domains join the service. For existing GlobalBlock customers, the .cn and .de coverage is already active at no additional cost.
Brands shouldn't have to become domain policy experts or have portfolios of every domain variation just to protect themselves online. They should be able to say, 'Protect my brand,' and know it's handled.
GlobalBlock’s growth
Since launching with 550 extensions in early 2024, GlobalBlock has grown coverage by more than 35%, adding an average of 10 namespaces per month. The platform now includes country code domains, generic extensions, and Web3.0 namespaces—creating the most comprehensive centralised blocking service available.
To date, GlobalBlock has served thousands of customers around the world and protected more than 10 million unique brand labels. Its Priority AutoCatch feature—which automatically seizes unauthorised domains after they're deleted or expire—has recovered over 10 thousand domains from third parties and returned them to brand owners at no cost, preventing them from falling into the hands of cybersquatters or counterfeiters.
What's next
For brands and IP professionals looking to understand how GlobalBlock could work for their organisation, the BSA will be presenting a series of "Market Briefing Sessions" hosted by GlobalBlock's accredited reseller community.
A list of these providers and session times is available via the GlobalBlock website here.
Attendees will have the ability to request personalised data on their risk of exposure and learn how centralised blocking could reduce both costs and administrative burden.
To learn more or register for an upcoming Market Briefing Session, visit GlobalBlock or contact a participating agent directly.
