BCLP adds to partner haul from Dentons
The additions, including the firm’s former post-grant lead, follow a 15-strong group who made the switch earlier this month.
Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP) has hired even more patent lawyers from Dentons, including the former head of the firm’s post-grant group.
New partner Scott Cummings is the latest member of a 15-person group of partners and attorneys whose move to BCLP was announced last week.
Cummings will be joined by counsel Frank Miskiel and two patent professionals, and will be based in the firm’s Washington DC office.
Former chair of the global IP and technology group at Dentons Song Jung led the team that left in the initial wave of departures, and will now take on a role as global chair of patents at BCLP.
Scott is the sixth IP partner to join Jung's new team, which also includes partners Mark Kressloff, Bumrae Cho, Yong Choi, Tyler Goodwyn and Bruce Vance.
Cummings was previously head of Dentons’ post-grant group, and he brings experience of first-chair trial wins on behalf of patent owners as well as patent challengers who come before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
He also spent eight years as a patent examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office.
His work spans diverse industries including nanotechnology, medical devices, metallurgy, inorganic chemistry, bearings, oil and gas exploration, military hardware and business methods.
Commenting on the appointment, Jung said:
“We are glad to now have Scott on board at BCLP. His significant PTAB work along with his deep patent litigation experience is a key strength of the capabilities we have brought to the firm and we look forward to working together with our BCLP colleagues to service the needs of our clients around the world.”
