Dentons hires patent litigator to IP and tech practice
New partner brings China IP and litigation experience to the firm.
Dentons has hired partner Timothy Bickham to its IP and technology practice in Washington, DC.
The patent and trade secret litigation expert will be particularly involved in helping international clients safeguard their IP rights in the US.
Bickham makes the move after almost 20 years at Steptoe & Johnson, according to his Linkedin profile.
He was previously managing director of that firm’s China IP and litigation group and managing partner of its Beijing office.
Bickham will lead Dentons’ China IP litigation team due to his background in the region. He has represented Chinese companies in patent litigation proceedings before US district courts and the International Trade Commission (ITC).
Monica Richman, global chair of IP and technology, said: “Bickham’s impressive experience representing international clients aligns perfectly with our firm's commitment to providing top-tier legal services across jurisdictions.
“We look forward to the value and leadership he will bring to our team and clients.”
Beyond his involvement with Chinese clients, Bickham has also served Brazilian and European companies.
Bickham’s clientele comprises Fortune 100 corporations and global organisations entering the US market. He has represented companies in US competitor litigation and coordinates international patent enforcement efforts across industries including chemicals, electronics, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, software and telecommunications.
Additionally, Bickham’s expertise extends to overseeing multi-jurisdictional litigation and advocating for clients in Section 337 claims within the ITC.
