Katie Goulding joined the profession in January 2012 as a trainee trademark attorney at HGF. Now, she serves as a senior trademark attorney, and specialises in fashion/retail and food and drink. Her practice encompasses all aspects of trademark law and designs, from filing strategies, filing and prosecuting UK, European and international trade marks and advising on infringement and passing off. A large part of Goulding’s practice is advocacy and negotiation. She regularly represents client’s in ex parte hearings at the UK Intellectual Property and has a near unblemished record of overcoming distinctiveness objections at hearing. Goulding is particularly proud of advising the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in relation to its trailblazing ‘The Plastics Pact’ initiative which brings together businesses, governments, innovators, non governmental organisations and citizens to address the global plastics crisis. She has provided training to in-house legal and marketing teams, including ASOS, and Bettys & Taylors Group (Yorkshire Tea) and has delivered a presentation on the fundamentals of IP to new business starts for Forward Ladies, a support network for women in business.
