CITMA elects new president

Tania Clark, a partner at IP firm Withers & Rogers, has been elected as president of the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA).

Clark, who had served as vice-president of CITMA since 2016, began her first full day in the role yesterday, April 11.

She’s been a member of the institute for over 20 years and on its governing council for more than ten. In 2011, Clark was elected as a fellow of CITMA for her significant contribution to the organisation.

“I am honoured to be elected to lead CITMA. It has played a big part in my career to date and I look forward to guiding the organisation through the challenges that lie ahead over the next two years,” she said.

Clark noted that the future of IP post-Brexit will be a top priority for her and the organisation.

In March, WIPR spoke to CITMA’s former president, Kate O’Rourke, about the treatment of IP rights following the UK’s exit from the EU.

Clark added: “I want my presidency to help to spread the word about the commercial value of IP rights and encourage take-up among the UK’s thriving community of entrepreneurs.”
