Former US acting attorney general joins Cravath

New hire has 30 years of public and private sector experience | Washington, DC litigator will be ‘invaluable to our clients navigating business-critical enforcement and litigation matters’.

Jeffrey Rosen, the former US acting attorney general, has joined Cravath as of counsel.

Rosen has joined the litigation department, in the firm’s Washington, DC office.

He will provide advisory services to clients on various regulatory, enforcement, investigations, compliance, and monitoring matters.

Rosen has 30 years of experience, where he has handled litigation cases covering antitrust, securities, RICO, business torts, trade secrets, contracts, government enforcement actions, product liability, class actions, and regulatory matters.

Before joining Cravath, Rosen held prominent positions in the public sector.

As the acting US attorney general, he oversaw a workforce of over 110,000 employees and spearheaded several federal initiatives.

Notable among these initiatives were the antitrust review of online technology platforms, criminal and civil opioid enforcement, and investigations and prosecutions related to intellectual property theft and cybercrime.

Rosen also served as deputy attorney general, deputy secretary of transportation, general counsel and senior policy advisor for the White House Office of Management and Budget, and general counsel at the US Department of Transportation.

He also chaired Virginia's commission to combat antisemitism and is a public member of the Administrative Conference of the US.

Faiza Saeed, Cravath's presiding partner, commented: “Jeff is highly regarded across the public and private sectors, with a record of distinguished leadership in government and as a preeminent litigator.”

Rosen’s perspective will be “invaluable to our clients navigating business-critical enforcement and litigation matters,” highlighted Saeed.

Rosen, who has also argued before the US Supreme Court, said: “With its well-known commitment to excellence, Cravath is consistently on the front lines of the most complex, high-impact corporate, investigative and litigation work happening today.”

Rosen served as chair of the American Bar Association's Section of Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice. He also taught professional responsibility as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center.

Currently, he holds the position of nonresident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and serves as a member of the Board of Visitors of George Mason University.
