Allen & Overy hires former ITC man

Allen & Overy LLP has expanded its IP team with the appointment of a former investigative attorney at the US International Trade Commission (ITC).

Matthew Bathon, a patent specialist, will join the Washington, DC office as a senior counsel.

Bathon previously worked in the ITC’s office of unfair import investigations, where he represented the federal government in investigations into electrical, computer, and mechanical patents in various technologies.

Prior to working at the ITC, Bathon was a litigator and was involved in cases surrounding technologies including computer architecture and telecommunications.

He has litigated before US district courts and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Paul Keller, head of the firm’s US IP practice, said: “Bathon’s experience in litigation patent cases in district courts and the ITC, especially his service as an ITC investigative staff attorney, make him a great addition to our growing IP team”.
