Katie Goulding

Key details

  • Job title: Brand Counsel
  • Firm: Jaguar Land Rover
  • Jurisdiction: UK

Katie Goulding is the IP lead for Jaguar Range Rover and has previously supported the strategic reinvention of the wider JLR brand identity.

Appointed to the role in November 2023, she leads the brand’s global IP management, navigates legal risk, clears marketing strategies, and drives the protection of creative assets. She is widely recognised as a straight-talking, pragmatic practitioner who excels at cutting through corporate complexity to enable business objectives.

Her core expertise spans brand clearance, international filing strategies, IP strategy, licensing, design rights, and contracts, including brand collaborations and complex supplier terms.

Before moving in-house at JLR, Goulding spent over a decade in private legal practice advising startups, scale-ups, and multinational corporations on complex IP matters. She served as counsel for Europe IP and innovation at Diageo from April to October 2023, and also worked as a chartered trademark attorney at CMS UK.

Prior to these roles, she spent more than ten years as a trademark director at HGF, where she headed the Food and Drink team and managed cross-border trademark enforcement and litigation.

In May 2026, she shared her insights at the EU Intellectual Property Office’s Sixth IP Case Conference on the topic of ‘Use It or lose It: Mastering proof of use in EU trademarks’.
