Christina Davidson Trimmer is a senior IP litigator who has shaped high-value trademark and patent disputes, including a landmark near-$100 million jury verdict.

She began her IP career with early in-house experience in the legal department of CarMax, followed by associate roles at LeClairRyan and Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, where she developed a broad practice spanning both IP litigation and transactional advisory work.

Trimmer represents clients in state and federal courts across the US, before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

Her litigation experience includes disputes involving false advertising, unfair competition, and broader commercial IP claims.

She was a key member of the trial team that secured a $95.5 million jury verdict for Variety Wholesalers in a wilful trademark infringement case against Walmart involving the ‘Backyard’ mark for outdoor products, one of the most significant trademark damages awards in recent years, alongside a multimillion-dollar award of attorneys’ fees.

Her broader litigation record includes successfully defending clients in injunction proceedings, resolving trade secret and Lanham Act disputes, and representing manufacturers and commercial clients in patent and copyright matters involving product design, branding, and competitive market issues.

Trimmer also manages global trademark portfolios for multinational clients with extensive brand holdings and advises on IP audits and licensing strategies designed to protect and commercialise intangible assets across international markets.

She is an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the Carolina Patent, Trademark and Copyright Lawyers Association (CPTCLA).

Within her firm, she holds significant leadership roles, including IP service line lead for the Carolinas and co-chair of the firmwide Inclusion Committee, reflecting her influence in both practice development and organisational leadership.
