View from the top: Frances Drummond, Norton Rose Fulbright
In this edition of View from the top, global head of intellectual property at Norton Rose Fulbright, Frances Drummond, shares her extensive experience on how companies can manage their IP assets.
When a business has a strategy or goal it wants to achieve, where does IP fit in?
Drummond suggests companies identify their assets, put these on the c-suite agenda, and then work on embedding an IP culture within the business.
“Periodically, the legal team should prepare a risk map, to identify key risks impacting the intangible assets, together with mitigation strategies,” said Drummond.
“With all the background work done, then a business can have more open conversations about intangible assets and their protection, to embed a culture in the organisation of understanding and valuing intellectual property.”
An Asia Pacific expert, Drummond has over 30 years of IP law experience, including more than 20 years in Australia and nine years in Asia.
