Italy law firm Spheriens has made up two new partners, Valeria Zanon and Simona Smarrelli based in Milan and Florence, and hired Marco Bellia as counsel.

She has specific experience in patents in the pharmaceutical and tech fields. Previously Zanon was at Lombardi Segni e Associati (formerly, Lombardi Molinari Segni).

Smarrelli’s experience includes providing advice and assistance to clients in the filing and prosecution of national, EU, and international trademark applications.

She also has experience in domestic and EU administrative proceedings. Previously, Simona worked for Notarbartolo & Gervasi before joining Spheriens in 2019.

Bella has experience in advising clients on contractual and strategic matters related to domestic and cross-border IP operations.

In addition to practising IP law, Bellia is an experienced lawyer in company law, antitrust, and commercial contracts.

Bella has been a lecturer in patents and trademarks at the Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna since 2019.

Pier Luigi Roncaglia, managing partner of Spheriens said: “The appointment of our two new partners is due, considering the formidable contribution that Valeria and Simona have made to the growth of the firm in their respective areas of work.

“In the same direction is also the more than welcome arrival in our group of Marco, who brings to the firm his recognised skills and expertise in areas of frequent interplay with IP, such as antitrust and corporate law,” added Roncaglia.
