There are around 180 lawyers in Han Kun’s IP practice, of which 40 are in the trademark and copyright practice group.
Based in Shenzhen, Wei (Vivian) He is one of the firm’s star litigators, focusing on copyright, trademark, trade secret and unfair competition law. A former in-house counsel at Philips, He’s client list includes Chanel, Gucci, Zegna, Samsung, Sony, Tencent, Baidu, and JD. She also handles non-contentious IP issues including strategic protection of IP portfolios, transactions, and prosecution.
Rong (Estella) Chen is a key contact for trademark work at Han Kun, and she has extensive experience of serving both multinational and domestic clients in a wide range of fields. Chen has led cases that have been ranked as “Top 10” typical cases by the High Courts, and assisted leading brands with obtaining well-known trademark protection and high damages. Clients she has served include Coca-Cola, L’Oréal, General Motors, Walmart, TikTok, Tencent and Baidu.
Another highly experienced member of the team is Xiaomeng Dong, who has a particularly strong trademark prosecution practice. Dong has helped many well-known foreign companies obtain trademark registration in China, and is a member of the expert group of the EU SME Centre.

- L’Oréal: Equity purchase of Yesskin
Han Kun assisted L’Oréal in its equity purchase of Chinese skin clinic chain Yesskin. The team conducted legal due diligence of Yesskin in connection with the transaction, which included identifying key trademark issues and legal risks, reviewing the IP section of the equity purchase agreement, and revising the agreement based on transaction negotiations.
The team included Rong Chen, Xin Zhao, Huawei Zhan and Xin Cao.
- Baidu: Trademark applications, refusal review and administrative litigation
Han Kun represents tech giant Baidu, which started as China’s biggest search engine and is repositioning itself as a leader in artificial intelligence.
On behalf of Baidu, the team has conducted trademark searches and filed applications, as well as handled refusal reviews, cancellations and related administrative litigation.

- Hikvision: Trademark prosecution, invalidations, refusal reviews
The team assists Hikvision, a leading supplier of video surveillance systems, with trademark matters in China. Han Kun has advised the client on protecting its trademark rights in the country as well as on brand development and market expansion. The work has included advice on trademark strategy, administrative litigation, applications, refusal reviews and cancellations.
