With its multilingual capacity (Chinese, English, Japanese, French, and Russian), Zhongzi is well placed to assist global innovators in navigating China’s complex IP environment.

Team overview:

Zhongzi’s IP team is led by a group of highly experienced professionals combining legal acumen with strong technical expertise. Key figures include Bonan Lin, Chengen Duan, and Gesheng Huang, who jointly oversee the firm’s patent litigation and prosecution practice.

Lin brings over two decades of experience managing patent portfolios and advising on infringement and invalidation cases for multinational corporations and research institutions. Duan focuses on IP enforcement, administrative appeals, and complex litigation before China’s courts and the CNIPA, while Huang leads cross-border patent filing and licensing matters, coordinating work for major clients in the electronics and life sciences sectors.

Supporting the leadership team are partners Zheng Li, a dual-qualified Canadian lawyer and patent attorney with expertise in communications and semiconductor technology, and Chunyi Li, who handles IP litigation and anti-unfair competition disputes. Together, they lead a technically diverse team of patent and trademark attorneys, many of whom hold advanced degrees in science and engineering from leading Chinese universities.

The team’s collective background spans pharma, telecoms, chemical engineering, and renewable energy, enabling Zhongzi to provide precise and effective strategies from drafting and prosecution to enforcement and litigation. The firm’s practitioners are active members of international professional associations such as AIPPI, INTA, and LES, and have contributed to shaping China’s evolving patent enforcement landscape.
