From its beginnings as a Chofn division handling foreign patents, Foundin IP is now an independent firm with over 160 employees.

On the patent side, the firm’s main strengths lie in filing and prosecution, with the team handling an average of over 2,000 overseas patent applications for clients every year. Services also include advising on licensing agreements, patent search and analysis, and dispute resolution/litigation.

Foundin IP has built its team with expertise across the core practice areas of mechanical engineering, telecommunication, biomedicine and chemical material.

Foundin IP is headquartered in Beijing with branches in Tianjin, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Shenyang, Yanji and other cities, as well as liaison offices in Japan, the US and Germany.

Managing partners Xiangyun Jin, Yan Wei and Hui Wang are three of the firm’s patent experts. Founding partner Jin has a background in mechanics, and his practice focuses on patent drafting, reexamination, infringement identification, invalidation claims and litigation.

Wei specialises in computer software and hardware, communications and medical devices, among other technical areas. Wei has handled a large number of patent applications for Japanese and Korean clients in China.

Wang has been working in the patent field since 2009. With his practice focused on a broad spectrum of patent matters, he has deep expertise in chemical engineering, food, materials and mechanics.
