Headquartered in Beijing, Chinable IP has branch offices in major commercial cities including Nanjing, Shenyang, Xi’an, and Jian. Chinable IP’s team is made up of approximately 180 professionals, including around 120 patent attorneys and engineers. The team is multilingual, including speakers of English, Japanese, Korean and German.

One of the firm’s managing partners, William Xu, makes this year’s rankings for his contentious patent practice. Xu, who has a background in physics and telecoms technology, is a renowned litigator in China and has represented clients such as Huawei, Siemens, Osram, Sony, Fujitsu and Sk Hynix.

  • ‘AI digital human’ patent infringement litigation

Chinable was selected by a patentee to handle an infringement litigation relating to an innovation in the AI field. Hangzhou Intermediate People’s Court heard the case in 2024. It concerned a cutting-edge computer software patent in the field of natural human-computer interaction, and was selected as a model case for AIPPI’s World Intellectual Property Congress, held in Hangzhou in October 2024.

The team safeguarded the patentee’s rights and interests, and the case drew widespread attention in China and beyond.
