- Rockit: Landmark win in trade dress infringement case
Baker McKenzie and Chinese law firm FenXun, through the joint operation platform Baker McKenzie FenXun, helped secure a landmark win for Rockit Global in a trade dress infringement case in China. New Zealand-based Rockit, which grows and exports ‘miniature’ apples, took action against a company in China that was selling apples using packaging and trademarks similar to its own.
In March 2025, the Zhejiang High People’s Court ruled that the defendant had acted in bad faith by copying Rockit’s packaging design, infringing its trade dress and trademark rights. The firm said the decision was a major milestone for Rockit as it set a strong precedent for the legal protection of its packaging design.
The team was led by Baker McKenzie IP partner Andrew Sim, and included partner Zheng Zhou and associate Jacqueline Wang of FenXun Partners.
