The team is led by Ryan McCarthy, principal and chief representative in Shenzhen. McCarthy offers comprehensive patent counsel covering prosecution, litigation, post-grant proceedings, opinions, due diligence, strategy, portfolio management, licensing, and related transactions. Additionally, his expertise focuses on emerging technologies such as blockchain, AI, augmented and virtual reality, and advanced machine learning.

McCarthy is supported by Yong (Eric) Peng, one of the co-founders of Fish & Richardson’s Shenzhen office who specialises in creating durable patents designed to withstand the test of litigation for Chinese and global clients. Bilingual in Mandarin and English, he helps Chinese clients achieve their IP and business objectives by bridging cultural gaps and providing consultation, strategy development, opinion work, and litigation due diligence. Peng has acted as technical and legal counsel on over 30 patent lawsuits in the US since 2011, representing both patentees and defendants.
