Trial lawyer joins Morrison & Foerster in San Francisco

Jessica Grant, a trial lawyer with extensive IP litigation experience, has joined Morrison & Foerster as a partner in its San Francisco office.

Grant, who joins from Venable, will serve in the firm’s class actions and mass torts practice group.

Tiffany Cheung, co-chair of the Morrison & Foerster’s global litigation department and co-chair of the class actions and mass torts practice group, said: “Jessica is an outstanding addition to our already strong class actions and product liability groups. Her proven track record as a trial lawyer and work on complex, high-profile matters will greatly benefit our clients as they navigate challenging litigation issues.”

She has tried more than a dozen high-stakes matters for both defendants and plaintiffs, most as lead trial counsel.

Previously, Grant served as lead trial counsel for a semiconductor chip maker and several other defendants against a plaintiff seeking more than $450 million for alleged fraud, unjust enrichment, breach of contract, and related patent claims.

She added: “Morrison & Foerster is renowned for its powerhouse litigation team, longstanding tradition of having some of the top trial lawyers in the US, and market-leading position in the Bay Area. I am delighted to join the firm and to work with my new colleagues in trying cases.”

Grant has also served as lead trial counsel in the “first major copyright infringement trial” involving claimed fair use of viral YouTube videos, according to Morrison & Foerster.
