Kirkland & Ellis partner joins King & Spalding
King & Spalding has added Brent Ray as a partner in the firm’s trial and global disputes practice.
Ray, who will be based in the firm’s Chicago office, joins from Kirkland & Ellis, where he served as a partner from 2012.
He has represented clients at federal and state courts, as well as the US Patent and Trademark Office and the US International Trade Commission.
Kenny Steinthal, leader of the firm’s IP practice, said that Ray is a “trial lawyer to whom industry-leading clients turn for their thorniest patent disputes”.
Zachary Fardon, managing partner and head of litigation at King & Spalding, said that Ray’s “deep IP skillset complements our growing commercial litigation practice”.
Ray previously worked as an associate at Jones Day in Chicago from 2004 to 2011.
Speaking on his appointment, Ray said that “King & Spalding’s reputation and commitment to growing its patent litigation team made it a fantastic opportunity”.
