King & Spalding hires two partners in Washington, DC

US-based law firm  King & Spalding has hired two partners to its Washington, DC, office.

Stephen Baskin and Dara Kurlancheek, who join from  Mayer Brown, will work in the patent litigation and technology practice.

Kurlancheek’s work focuses on complex patent litigation and has technical experience across a wide range of industries including electronic banking, video analytics and online customer live chat features.

Baskin’s clients include those in the technology, financial services and telecommunications sectors. He also counsels companies on pre-litigation matters and analysis patents and technology in defending allegations.

Baskin said the pair had admired King & Spalding’s commitment to its IP practice.

“After seeing the addition of several lawyers that we have known and respected for years, combined with the long-term growth opportunities afforded by the platform, we knew it was the right time to join King & Spalding,” Baskin said.

Kenny Steinthal, leader of the firm’s IP practice, said he was excited to welcome Baskin and Kurlancheek as partners to the firm.

“Steve and Dara’s technology expertise and current list of clients overlap perfectly with the firm’s strategic priorities and will complement our core IP practice and transportation and technology initiatives,” Steinthal said.
