Kirkland & Ellis boosts team with ITC litigator
Kirkland & Ellis has strengthened its team in Washington, DC with the appointment of a lawyer who focuses his practice on section 337 litigation before the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
Paul Brinkman will re-join the firm as a partner in the IP practice group after having worked at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan.
He has represented companies in patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation and false advertising cases across a range of industries, from technology to textiles.
Kirkland & Ellis said that Brinkman has won 17 of 19 trials at the ITC and won or favourably settled a number of other cases in advance of trial.
Jeffrey Hammes, chairman of Kirkland’s global management executive committee, said: “Paul has a strong reputation as one of the top practitioners before the ITC, an increasingly important venue for our IP clients.”
