Dennemeyer offers free services in wake of Hurricane Harvey
IP services provider Dennemeyer is offering some of its services for free to law firms and corporations in the greater Houston area, which has been ravaged by Hurricane Harvey.
The offer lasts for three months and applies to docketing, US trademark filing and foreign patent filing services.
Hurricane Harvey—classed as Tropical Depression Harvey at the time of writing after being downgraded by the National Hurricane Center—has devastated areas of Texas. At least 31 people have been confirmed as dead and nearly 50,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed.
Cary Levitt, chief operating officer of Dennemeyer US, said in a statement yesterday, August 30, that the ongoing flood devastation to the Houston area is “dreadful”.
“It is affecting not only personal lives, but all ongoing business. We know that intellectual property work cannot and will not stop for a natural disaster.”
Leon Steinberg, managing director for North America, added that “once the rain stops, it will still take businesses an extended time to recover from the destruction, which is why we are donating our services to the companies and law firms in the Houston area”.
The hurricane has also forced the closure of several branches of the district courts in Texas.
