Sheena Jacob is head of CMS’s Southeast Asian Intellectual Property practice. Qualified in Singapore, New York, and England & Wales, she brings more than 25 years of experience advising clients on intellectual property matters across Asia-Pacific.

Jacob leads a regional practice focused on complex commercial IP transactions, licensing arrangements and commercialisation strategies across the technology, media and life sciences sectors, with particular expertise in media and entertainment. She delivers commercially pragmatic advice on sophisticated and emerging IP issues throughout the region.

Jacob has advised on a number of landmark matters, including acting for Nestlé in Singapore’s first shape mark litigation concerning the 3D mark for ‘Kit Kat’ before both the High Court and Court of Appeal.

She also advised a technology company on establishing Singapore’s first IP Trust for the holding and transfer of IP assets, and a major European conglomerate on imaging research collaboration and licensing arrangements with Singapore’s largest research institute.

Her practice includes managing major regional and global IP portfolios for leading companies across sectors including technology, pharmaceuticals, consumer products, e-commerce, digital infrastructure, media and streaming platforms.

She has also acted as an expert witness in US International Trade Commission proceedings and in IP arbitrations before the Singapore International Arbitration Centre.

Jacob is a prolific author and thought leader, with publications covering trade secrets, copyright reform, compulsory licensing, franchising, trademarks and intellectual property risk management.

She is a regular speaker at major international conferences, including events organised by AIPLA, the International Trademark Association, the Federal Circuit Bar Association and Licensing Executives Society International.
