Gemma Kirkland

Gemma Kirkland is a partner and chartered trade mark attorney at D Young & Co, specialising in trademark and design matters.

Based in the firm’s Southampton office, she advises clients ranging from start-ups and sole traders through to multinational corporations on the development, protection and enforcement of their brands.

Kirkland joined D Young & Co in 2007 after gaining in-house experience in BP Group’s trademark department.

She became a partner in 2016 and has developed a practice spanning a wide range of sectors, including beauty and personal care, household products, luxury consumer goods, fashion, consumer electronics, financial services, music and entertainment, automotive services, and travel and tourism.

Her work covers the full spectrum of trademark matters, including clearance, prosecution, oppositions, invalidity and revocation actions, enforcement issues, and company and domain names. She has experience acting before both the UK Intellectual Property Office and the European Union Intellectual Property Office.

Kirkland is a member of the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA) and the International Trademark Association (INTA).
