Gaby Longsworth

Gaby Longsworth is a director in the Biotechnology & Chemical Practice Group at Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox, and chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

Longsworth’s practice focuses on complex biopharmaceutical IP strategy, including Orange Book listings, data exclusivity, 505(b)(2) strategies, patent term extensions, and lifecycle portfolio development for new drug applications (NDAs) and biologics licence applications (BLAs). She also advises across patent procurement, including domestic and foreign drafting and prosecution. Her technical work spans biotherapeutics, biologics, immunotherapy, antibody technologies, microbiome-based technologies, diagnostics, vaccines, viral vectors, formulations, and drug delivery systems.

Longsworth has rendered more than 1,000 opinions covering invalidity, non-infringement, freedom-to-operate, and patentability across technologies including small molecules, polymorphs, salts, synthesis routes, pharmaceutical formulations, delivery systems, and biologics.

She is particularly well-known by both innovator and generic biopharmaceutical companies worldwide for her insights and knowledge of Hatch-Waxman law.

Longsworth’s notable client work includes representation of Axiota/MSBiotec, ModeX Therapeutics, 10X Genomics, George Washington University, Kriya Therapeutics, ImmuneWalk Therapeutics, Summit Biosciences, and Scienture.

As well as serving as chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, her leadership roles include participation in the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), membership of the Maryland State Bar Association Intellectual Property Committee, and the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia.

Longsworth is also a key organiser of ‘Inspired by the Women of Sterne Kessler’, an internal initiative supporting the development and advancement of women attorneys within the firm and broader profession.
