Candice Kwok’s work sits at the intersection of complex, high-value, and cross-border brand protection issues, and she operates at a consistently senior level spanning both advisory and contentious work across Asia and beyond.
She has advised and represented a major Japanese general trading company in due diligence and evaluation of intellectual property assets in connection with the proposed acquisition of a Singapore-based commodities business.
She has also acted for the owners of a globally recognised lifestyle destination in a multi-jurisdictional dispute concerning trademark rights spanning Singapore, the US, Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand and Europe.
Her practice includes regular work in contentious trademark proceedings in Singapore, including opposition and invalidation actions, notably for a European luxury streetwear brand pursuing enforcement against an Asian copycat business.
Kwok also provides ongoing global trademark portfolio management for a publicly listed healthcare company, covering clearance, selection, maintenance and enforcement strategies worldwide.
In addition, she has represented a range of video game developers and gaming companies in both contentious and non-contentious trademark matters.
Kwok is actively involved in the IP community. She is a specialist mediator with the Singapore International Mediation Centre and a member of the International Trademark Association, where she has served on various committees including the Trademark Office Practices Committee and the Non-Traditional Trademarks Committee, and previously chaired the Asia-Pacific Subcommittee on Trademark Office Practices. She is also a member of the Law Society of Singapore and the Singapore Academy of Law and of the World Intellectual Property Organization's List of Neutrals.
