Anita Polott leads the global trademark and copyright practice at Morgan Lewis, advising companies worldwide on the strategic management, protection and commercialisation of their brands and other key IP assets.
Polott heads up a team of more than 70 lawyers and professionals based in the US, UK, France and Germany and has played a central role in the significant expansion and international growth of the practice over the past two years, frequently advising on major global rebrands and on the IP aspects of complex corporate transactions, including substantial trademark licensing and brand-related agreements.
She works with clients across a range of industries to develop and implement global brand protection strategies, manages large US and international trademark portfolios, and advises on enforcement and litigation strategies. She is also co-managing partner of Morgan Lewis's 300+-lawyer Washington, DC office.
Notable representations include advising the Humane Society on its rebrand to ‘Humane World for Animals’, including trademark clearance, development of a multi-jurisdiction filing strategy and ongoing global portfolio management; representing LIXIL Americas in connection with its strategic partnership with American Bath Group involving licensing of the American Standard, DXV and Eljer brands; and acting for Elevance Health.
As part of her contribution to the wider IP community, Polott is an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), where she chairs the NIL/Advertising Subcommittee, part of the Commercialization of Intellectual Property Committee. She also sits on the Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property (PIJIP) Alumni Advisory Council at American University Washington College of Law and serves on the Women’s Leadership Initiative Advisory Council at BBYO.
