Ai-Leen Lim

Ai-Leen Lim leads AWA Asia’s offices, managing its headquarters in Hong Kong and its wholly-owned Chinese IP consultancy in Beijing. She is admitted as an advocate and solicitor in Singapore and is qualified to practise in Hong Kong and the UK.

She advises clients on IP portfolio management in China, Hong Kong, and internationally, with a particular emphasis on brand management and IP strategy. Lim’s practice covers contentious and non-contentious trademark, design and patent registration, protection and enforcement matters.

Her clients range from IP-rich, fast-growing startups to Fortune 500 companies. Lim’s extensive branding experience gives her the unique ability to evaluate brands as intangible assets, enabling clients to build, maintain, and protect their trademarks as part of an overall IP strategy.

Prior to her current position, she was a partner and head of trademark portfolio management for Greater China at Bird & Bird, where she led regional trademark portfolio strategy and management. She also served as head of IP, resident partner in Hong Kong and chief representative in Beijing at Colin Ng & Partners, advising clients on complex cross-border IP matters throughout Asia.

Earlier in her career, she worked as an associate at Stephenson Harwood and held a government role as assistant registrar of trademarks and patents at the Singapore Registry of Trademarks and Patents, giving her valuable insight into trademark and patent administration from both regulatory and private practice perspectives.

She is a member of professional organisations including the Asian Patent Attorneys Association and the International Trademark Association.
