McCarter & English attracts former Eli Lilly counsel
Steven Davis has moved to McCarter & English LLP from Foley & Lardner LLP, the firm announced in April.
Davis joins McCarter & English’s IP and information technology practice as a partner. He will be based in the firm’s Boston office.
The patent attorney was a partner at Foley & Lardner. He has also worked as a principle at Hamilton Brook Smith & Reynolds PC and as an in-house patent counsel at pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly & Co.
Davis focuses on patent prosecution, portfolio strategy and management, freedom to operate assessments, infringement analysis and IP licensing.
He also assists universities, start-ups and pharmaceutical corporations with protecting technologies in the chemistry, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology areas.
Elizabeth Hanley, chair of the IP and information technology practice at McCarter & English, said: “Davis has not only practised patent law for nearly 20 years both in-house and in private practice, but he was also a research scientist in the chemical industry. This combination of experience will enhance our premier intellectual property practice.”
