Law firm DWF has launched a new IP department in France with the addition of litigation partner Simon Christiaën.
Over the past 25 years, Christiaën’s work has involved a broad range of IP matters including patent, copyright, and trademark litigation, and he has advised high-profile clients on multi-jurisdictional disputes.
At DWF, Christiaën will work on IP litigation proceedings as well as data protection issues related to IP and IT. He has expertise in the life sciences and transport industries, with a particular focus on industrial manufacturers and distributors.
Christiaën joins the firm from Lazareff Le Bars in Paris, where he led the patent/IP litigation and dispute resolution department.
Jean-François Mercadier, managing partner of DWF in France, said Christiaën’s in-depth experience in domestic and international patent litigation will strengthen the firm’s sector expertise.
Christiaën added: “There has been a real rise in patent applications in recent years, with domestic and foreign businesses based in France increasingly concerned with protecting their IP to maintain their technological advantage."
