Akin Gump gets former US judge
Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP has recruited former US magistrate judge Chad Everingham and IP litigator David Stein to its intellectual property practice, the firm announced in October.
Everingham joins as partner in the firm’s newly established Longview, Texas office, and Stein joins as partner in its Los Angeles office.
Everingham served as a magistrate judge in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas for four years. He will advise clients on intellectual property litigation matters, particularly patent litigation.
Stein was previously a partner at an international law firm where he served as the chief operating officer of its East Texas practice group. He has litigated patent cases throughout the US, including the Eastern District of Texas.
Bruce McLean, chairman of Akin Gump, said: “Our clients will benefit greatly from the addition of these talented partners—particularly with their deep experience in critical jurisdictions such as the Eastern District of Texas.”
“[Everingham] literally helped write the book on patent litigation in one of the country’s IP litigation hotspots,” added Steven Zager, head of Akin Gump’s intellectual property practice.
“Both have intimate familiarity with, and knowledge of, patent litigation that will be a boon not only for our clients, but also for our entire team.”
