US law firm Bird & Bird has extended its practice into Indonesia by establishing a partnership with IP specialist law firm K&K Advocates.
Over the last eighteen months the firm has established strategic partnerships in the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia, Malaysia and South Korea.
Combined with long term partnerships in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong and Singapore, the latest move is part of a wider strategy to expand the firm’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
David Kerr chief executive of Bird & Bird, said: “We are very excited about extending our presence into Indonesia. The Indonesian economy is fast moving into a new consumer led development phase which has resulted in a growing demand for high-quality, international advice in areas where technology and regulation are driving change."
Justisiari Kusumah, managing partner of K&K Advocates, said: “These cooperation agreements combine our specialisation in IP with Bird & Bird’s reputation as a leading international law firm.”
“Together we will be able to provide much-needed support to our regional and international clients, and compete in the ASEAN Economic community, especially with respect to IP rights protection,” he added.
