Pryor Cashman

Firm overview:

Pryor Cashman operates as a midsize, full-service law firm, providing comprehensive brand protection services anchored by its IP group. Headquartered in New York City, the firm maintains additional offices in Los Angeles and Miami, forming a “strategic triad” that allows it to efficiently service high-value, image-sensitive trademark clients across major US commercial hubs. The firm’s historical legacy, originating as an entertainment law boutique, provides foundational expertise critical for managing IP assets for pop culture icons and major corporations.

Pryor Cashman’s trademark practice combines robust prosecution capabilities with substantial enforcement work. The practice manages the prosecution and maintenance of over 13,000 active pending and registered trademarks globally. Simultaneously, the firm oversees more than 270 contentious proceedings. Although prosecution-related matters are a core strength, the firm’s high ratio of litigation activity confirms its capabilities in strategic, aggressive enforcement and defence against infringement and misappropriation in the US.

Team overview:

Co-chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group Brad Rose is a prominent litigator and transactional attorney serving the music, entertainment, digital media, and fashion industries. Rose focuses on bridging strategic corporate transactions, IP asset monetisation, and high-stakes litigation. He is recognised as a leading attorney in the US for both contentious and non-contentious IP matters.

Dyan Finguerra-DuCharme is co-chair of the Trademark Practice, and peers have noted she is a “really good litigator”. Her practice is primarily focused on contentious trademark work, including federal court litigation and proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). She manages large-scale global enforcement programmes and has worked with high-profile brand clients, such as L’Oréal, on cancellation and opposition proceedings.

Teresa Lee co-chairs Pryor Cashman’s Trademark Practice and is a member of the Intellectual Property, Media and Entertainment, and Litigation Groups. She specialises in advisory work, including trademark clearance, registration, licensing, and managing contentious IP proceedings around the world. Her unique background as a former examining attorney at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) provides an insider’s perspective, allowing her to efficiently assess strategies for successful registration or appeal, thereby saving clients both time and cost.
