  • City and County of San Francisco: Preliminary injunction in airport trademark dispute

In November 2024, Cooley secured a preliminary injunction for its client the City and County of San Francisco, in a trademark infringement lawsuit against the Port of Oakland, which operates Oakland International Airport.

The order requires the Port of Oakland to stop using the name and trademark ‘San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport’.

The Cooley litigation team was led by partners Bobby Ghajar and John Hemann, special counsel Judd Lauter, and associates Ryan Stevens and Jessica Williams. The case is City and County of San Francisco v City of Oakland and Port of Oakland in the US District Court for the Northern District of California (Case No. 3:24-cv-02311-TSH).
