Team overview:

Arnold & Porter’s trademark team has strengths across both non-contentious and contentious matters, and includes brand strategists as well as experienced litigators.

New York partner Paul Llewellyn serves clients in industries including pharmaceuticals, food and liquor, luxury goods and consumer products. Llewellyn is recognised for his skill in handling trademark infringement matters, as well as licensing disputes, domain name cybersquatting and online infringement, counterfeit goods and more.

A key contact for matters relating to trademark prosecution, counsel John Rynkiewicz, based in Washington, DC, has broad US and international experience in trademark selection, clearance, registration, licensing and enforcement. Rynkiewicz draws on his experience as a former USPTO trademark examiner, and role as chief trademark counsel at a global conglomerate.

In January 2025, the firm said goodbye to IP litigator and luxury brands expert Louis Ederer, who returned to Cowan Liebowitz & Latman after almost two decades at Arnold & Porter.
