BigLaw firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges is known for high-stakes litigation, restructuring, and complex corporate work for major companies and financial institutions. The firm has a strong, respected intellectual property practice, encompassing litigation, technology and IP transactions, and strategic IP counselling.
Over the past year, the firm has significantly invested in its technology and life sciences capabilities, notably bringing in Latham leaders Doug Lumish and Jeff Homrig, and installing renowned litigator Eric Namrow from Morgan Lewis to head up its International Trade Commission (ITC) practice.
The team’s experience covers multiple IP-rich sectors, including semiconductors, high tech, the life sciences, medical devices, manufacturing and consumer products. Weil regularly represents clients before the US district courts, ITC, Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.
Team overview:
Doug Lumish and Jeff Homrig joined the firm as co-heads of the IP, Technology & Science Litigation practice in August 2025; litigation partner Gabe Gross also moved over from Latham around the same time.
Lumish is known for representing some of the world’s biggest technology and life sciences companies in complex IP disputes, including Amazon, Google, Meta, Disney, Applied Biosystems, and Peloton.
Other noteworthy additions to the team include Eric Namrow, now global chair of ITC and cross-border enforcement. Namrow has litigated more than 125 ITC investigations, during almost three decades of handling complex IP disputes.
The firm’s hiring spree also included adding Joseph Lee as a partner in the IP, Technology & Science Litigation practice; Lee rejoined the firm after 12 years at Latham.
Chris Henry, Gaby LaHatte and Rachel Weiner Cohen, whose experience includes patent and trade secret litigation, also moved from Latham to Weil.
They join a bench of litigators at Weil with patent expertise such as Anne Cappella, whose representative clients include Microsoft, Intel, Amkor, and T-Mobile, and veteran US Supreme Court advocate Mark Perry, who serves as lead outside appellate counsel to major global companies.
