Key matters:

  • Motorola v Stellar

Jason Shapiro, Timothy Devlin and Jim Lennan of Devlin Law Firm represented Stellar in a patent dispute with Motorola.

Stellar sued Motorola for alleged patent infringement; Motorola responded by challenging the patents at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and the board instigated inter partes review (IPR) trials.

However, Stellar requested Director Review of the board’s analysis, which was granted. In a significant order in March 2025, Coke Morgan Stewart vacated the decision granting institution, denying the IPR.
