UK Trademarks Rankings 2026

Winston Taylor

Firm overview:

Officially launched on June 1, 2026, mega-firm Winston Taylor is home to one of the largest IP teams in Europe. For its part, the UK business of Taylor Wessing was acknowledged by peers as being a traditional litigation powerhouse with a “very good lead in the marketplace”; “it will be interesting” to see how things develop post-merger, says an industry counterpart. Internationally, Winston Taylor manages more than 82,500 live marks and has the capability to handle complex, high-stakes disputes.

Team overview:

Roland Mallinson is head of the Brands practice in the UK and co-heads the International Trademark group. In all aspects of brand protection and exploitation, Mallinson has been responsible for securing the trademarks of numerous household names.

Also a leadership figure in the UK, Niri Shan is head of IP and advises on contentious trademark and copyright matters, as well as advising corporates and individuals on issues arising under media law.

Jeremy Drew joined Taylor Wessing in early 2026 before the merger had taken effect, bringing a practice spanning both contentious and non-contentious IP. Elsewhere, France Delord departed the team for Shoosmiths, taking experience in managing large, international trademark portfolios.
