UK Trademarks Rankings 2026

Haseltine Lake Kempner

Firm overview:

Peers comment that specialist IP firm Haseltine Lake Kempner (HLK) is somewhat “unique”, having been traditionally viewed as an attorney firm but now featuring in the upper tiers of industry rankings for its full-service trademark offering. Seven years after the merger that brought Haseltine Lake and Kempner & Partners together, HLK is recognised as having strengths in both non-contentious and contentious brand-related legal matters. As well as UK trademark applications, the firm handles EU marks through its long-established Munich office.

Team overview:

Key team members include Amanda Mallon, who assists brand owners with protecting and exploiting their rights in the UK, EU and overseas. She advises on all aspects of trademarks and designs including brand clearance and selection, filing strategies, portfolio management, oppositions and cancellations.

Jason Dainty’s practice encompasses both contentious and non-contentious IP matters including brand protection and strategy. Dainty is active in the UK courts and handles disputes involving trademarks, passing off, design rights and more.

Also a brands specialist, Chris Morris focuses his practice on trademark clearance, registration and contentious proceedings. A committee member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), he has particular experience in overcoming inherent registrability objections.

Carl Steele has a broad IP practice, but has notably managed the worldwide trademark portfolios of numerous brand owners, covering everything from filing and prosecuting to enforcement and litigation before the English courts.
