Haseltine Lake merges with Kempner

Haseltine Lake has merged with British boutique IP firm Kempner & Partners to form a new international firm with a staff of nearly 200 people across 7 offices, effective yesterday, May 1.

The new firm, Haseltine Lake Kempner, will provide a “full suite of IP services across the entire IPR lifespan and in all scientific and technical disciplines”, a press release said.

Haseltine Lake Kempner now has offices in London, Bristol, Munich, Leeds, Glasgow, the Netherlands and Guangzhou.

The two firms had been working in “a close alliance” for the previous two years, the statement said.

Richard Kempner, senior partner at Kempner & Partners, called the merger  “a tremendously exciting move” which marked the “next stage in our growth, development and ability to service our clients' needs”.

“Others have sought to do this by bolting on individuals, but we believe that the better way is to combine two highly successful practices in a genuine merger”, Kempner said.

Rolf Stein, CEO of Haseltine Lake, said the merger was a “a real coup for our clients who have been telling us for some time that they would like us to be able to offer the full spectrum of IP services including litigation and IP transactional support”.
