Squire Patton Boggs adds electronics and software expert

Partner joins the IP and technology practice in Palo Alto | Brings expertise in electronics, software technology, and AI and machine learning | Latest addition follows the arrival of another tech counsel in Ohio.

Squire Patton Boggs has added partner Sarah Mirza to its IP and technology practice in Palo Alto, California.

Mirza, previously with Silicon Valley's Artegis Law Group, is recognised for her expertise in advising clients in the electronics and software sectors.

David Elkins, the leader of Squire Patton Boggs' IP and technology practice, said Mirza had “earned a reputation” as a “trusted advisor” to clients in Silicon Valley.

“Her strong technical background, legal acumen, and entrepreneurial approach to client development make her a great fit into our global IP&T team,” he added.

Mirza's practice focuses on developing valuable patent portfolios for clients within Silicon Valley's electronics and software technology industry.

She has specific expertise in protecting innovations related to AI and machine learning, including areas such as computer vision, generative models, medical imaging, and drug development—with her clientele ranging from startups to Fortune 100 companies.

Prior to her legal career, Mirza was a software engineer with technical specialties in computer science, AI and machine learning, augmented and virtual reality, databases, complex system architectures, network and computer security, and data analytics.

Commenting on her move Mirza said: “This is a thrilling time to be a high-tech IP attorney with innovation happening at groundbreaking speed and legal issues of first impression regularly arising as a result of that innovation.”

Her arrival follows the recent addition of another tech counsel Malisheia Douglas to Squire Patton Boggs' IP and technology practice in Cleveland, Ohio.
