Solloway departs IP Minister role
The UK IP Minister Amanda Solloway has moved on to take the role of Government Whip as Lord Commissioner of Her Majesty’s Treasury.
Announced in a ministerial reshuffle published on Wednesday, September 15, Solloway has left her previous role as the Minister for Science, Research and Innovation. Her replacement had not been announced at time of writing.
Solloway was appointed to the position on February 14, 2020, overseeing the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the UK Intellectual Property Office.
She replaced Chris Skidmore, who took up the position in September 2019, following the resignation of Jo Johnson, the younger brother of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The role’s responsibilities include joint oversight of the UK’s IP, maritime, space and technology sectors, as well as other responsibilities in science and research, innovation and industrial strategy delivery.
Solloway is the MP of Derby North.
