Rouse appoints head of patent strategy in China
Rouse has appointed Tim Jackson as head of its patent strategy and development department.
In the newly-created role Jackson will be tasked with improving the delivery of Rouse’s patent strategy, prosecution and litigation operations.
Jackson will be based between Rouse’s Shanghai and Beijing offices. He will work closely with Linda Chang, head of Rouse’s operations in China, to further develop the firm’s business in the patent area.
Before joining Rouse, Jackson led the chemical and biochemical patent teams at IP firm Baldwins. His expertise covers pharmaceutical and veterinary medicine, as well as issues in the chemical and mechanical fields.
Jackson’s litigation work at Baldwins included trademarks, copyright, passing off and trade secrets, and he represented clients before the New Zealand Supreme Court as well as its Privy Council.
“I am thrilled to be joining Rouse at such an exciting time in the firm’s growth,” Jackson said. He said he looks forward to developing Rouse’s client offering across the Chinese market.
Chang added that Jackson “brings more than 20 years’ experience at the forefront of international commercial IP expertise and his appointment in this newly-created role speaks volumes for Rouse’s relentless ambition in the patent space”.
