Lewis Silkin launches IP practice in Dublin
Lewis Silkin has hired the former head of commercial technology and data privacy at law firm Maples, marking the launch of its commercial, technology and IP practice in Dublin, Ireland.
Victor Timon joins Lewis Silkin with 35 years of expertise in commercial, technology, IP and data protection law.
In addition to marking the launch of a new practice in Dublin, Timon’s appointment expands his new firm’s data and privacy practice.
Giles Crown, joint managing partner at Lewis Silkin, said: “With Dublin becoming an increasingly important location for innovative businesses, particularly in the technology sector, providing unfettered access to European markets made perfect sense for us to leverage our footprint there for our clients’ advantage.”
Timon works across a range of sectors and has particular experience advising innovative, IP-driven organisations in the technology, cloud and telecoms industries.
He said: “Lewis Silkin has great plans for Dublin and I’m very excited to play my part in developing the firm’s commercial, technology and data protection practices in Ireland.
“Drawing on the firm’s longstanding expertise in IP and technology, backed up by the wider team based in the UK, this new offering will further enhance Lewis Silkin’s position as the law firm of choice for innovative, IP-rich businesses.”
The appointment follows Lewis Silkin’s acquisition of patent and trademark firm Ablett & Stebbing in July.
